In Lect 4 - Which alignment strategy in SAM model is the best? and why?
======================================================================
Response:
1) There is no best SAM perspective, as mentioned in the conclusion of the author of (1993 Henderson)
2) The optimal alignment perspectives to be adopted should be determined by
  • The existing internal and external business environments, the type of business of the company;
  • when the situations / the components in this environment is changed, the alignment perspective should be changed accordingly.
3) Company may adopt multiple perspective alignment as needed, but more coordination is needed.
For example,
e.g. An new IT is emerged (e.g. RFID), the company want to use it to create competitive advantage => Competitive Potential Alignment perspective  or
e.g. The company wants to position itself as technology leader as selling point to strengthen its brand name, through bench-marking and technology comparison with other companies => Technology transformation Alignment perspective

.....  (Bonus) + other SAM related issue, e.g. Critics to SAM, some extension of application of SAM, e.g. apply SAM to inter-companies (between companies) Supply Chain  etc...
